Weekly Creative Team Digest

Hello Nerds!

Another week has come to an end, and the Nerd Girls have been showing projects all this week inspired on the “Strawberry Social” theme.

Let’s have a look at what they have been sharing on social media, and in the Scrapbook Nerd Frinds and Fans Facebook page.

First up is Gisele with a beautiful and very colorful project featuring Phtotoplay’s Paprika collection.

She used a cut file from the SIlhouette store to create the background of this page, and then used the collection paper, designs and colors to embellish and tell the story of her family at Turkey Dinner.

Just love how she mixed all the colors and patterns together in one single page,   Beautiful work, Gisele!

Next up is Mari, with this gorgeous page that features Paige Evans, Pick Me Up collection, and a bit of mixed media on the background.

Mari started by using VIcki Boutin’s Art crayons and a brayer to create the soft yellow watercolor background for her page,  and then addd simple layers to behind the picture to create this gorgeous page.

Such sweet way to document a sweet family moment  Thanks, Mari!

Next up is Nathalie with this week’s Tuesday Tutorial,  Reworking  Backgrounds. In this tutorial she shared with us two process videos on how to transform a not so loved page into two beautifu new projects using the elements of the page,

The first page features Pebbles’ Patio Party collection, and a bit of mixed media to accent the  colorful picture of her family at the Strawberry Farm.

Lastly Nathalie also created this page using parts of the background of the not so loved layout.  She used Vicki Boutin’s products to create this new striking page.

Both fun ideas on how to repurpose an old layout.

That is all for this week!   Lots of inspiration being created and shared by our Creative team.   Remember you can see more of the projects on our Facebook Friends and Fans page.

Til next time!

Creative Team Digest

Hi there!

It is time for the weekend!  it is amazing how fast time passes when you are having fun!, and this week the Nerdy Girls were challenged to use florals in their projects, so let’s see what they have been up to:

First up is Mari. She created this beautiful page using the new Pebbles collection, Patio Party, some mixed media and a Paige Evans cut file.

Mari used Distress oxides and the packaging technique to add her mixed media to the backgroind (Bazzill’s Marshmallow cardstock). She then used papers from the Patio Party collection to back the large floral cut out for this page.

She added colorand texture to the page by stitching two large strips of the collection’s paper to the background, and then embellished the page using many of the collection add ons.  Such a soft and beautiful layout, Mari!

Next up is GIsele.  She is a master at mixing patterned paper, and this project is just so vibrant, and beautiful.

She used mainly papers and embellishments from Pink Paislee’s Pick Me Up collection.  She added lots of little details like the paper clip birds from Vicki Boutin’s All The Good Things colecton, and some puffy hearts from Pinkfresh Studio’s The mix 2 collection.

Gisele even created her own tassel bows to complete this page. I just love all those small  details that make this layout truly beautiful.

Finally, Nathalie’s Tutorial on creating a grid design for the background of a layout is genius.   The perfect place for all those 2×2 cut apart cards.

She also used Pebbles  Patio Party collection for her page along with some hand stitching and a few fussy cut floral images.

You can find all the details, as well as a few tips and tricks in the previous blog post.   This page is colorful and fun!

i hope this projects inspire you to create something amazing this weekend.  Remember to check Scrapbook Nerd for all the products used and many new ones  arriving daily.

See you all next week

New Free Cutfile – Pretty Petals

Scrapbook Nerd and the Cut Shoppe

Hello there!

It is time for a new free cut file! YAY!!!

Our friends at the Cut Shoppe have created the Pretty Petals cut file just in time for Spring. The florals in this design are fun, and so easy to combine to document your  memories, at any time or season of the year.

I took advantage of the floral designs in the cut file to create a cascade of flowers in my layout that celebrates Sister Love.

Using the Silhouette Software, the floral motifs were sized to be at the largest 2.5 in.  Once the florals and the leaf pair were sized, a few extra leaves from the Fall Faves cut file  were also added to the file, and all cut from white textured cardstock.

All the flowers were backed using papers from Pink Paislee’s Pick Me Up collection,  however not the entire cut out was glued to the paper.  Instead glue was just added to the center of the cut out, so that the  petals of the flowers will lift, thus creating movement in the page.

The two flower design were backed with the same papers, so that they could be evenly spread on the page.

To back the leaves, a combination of papers from the Pick Me Up and Turn The Page collections were used – all leaves were backed with a diferent shade of green paper-.   The leaves cut outs wre glued fully to the paper, unlike the flower ones.

Before adding the flowers to the paper, a bit of mixed media was added using some white acrylic paint, and Jane Davenport’s Mermaid markers.  Once the background was dried, the picture was propped on some fun foam.

The flowers were then glued to the page to form  a cascade (half moon) around the picture.  Foam adhesive and strong glue were used so that there is dimension and movement in the page.  Since there is so much detail added to the page, just a few extra embellishments were necessary.   These chipboard pieces, sequins and stickers all come from Paige Evans’ Pick Me Up collection.

To complete this page, a title was created using a combination of chipboard stickersm and small alpha stickers wre used.  A few drops of gold ink, and journal lines complete this page.

The floral design and color in this page are the perfect way to celebrate sister love at its best.  Now it is your turn to put the cut file to work in a project of your own.  Stop by Scrapbook Nerd to get a free download of the file.

Remember to tag the store #scrapbooknerdca wheneever  you share your finished project on social media,  We would love to see your take on this file.  Have Fun!!!
