Countdown to Christmas – Day Five – Rudolph Tags
Hello!
It’s Day 5 of the Christmas Countdown, and I’m happy to share a simple, cute gift tag.
My sister and nieces and I have had a tradition of getting together in November to make tags and cards. I will be sharing this one with them. Except for the tags and stamps, I got all the other supplies at the Dollar Store, making these very economical.
For the craft tag, I stamped the phrase in red. With the white tag, I decided to emboss in gold embossing powder.
You can cut the cork in half either with a sharp knife on a cutting board, or with sharp scissors (I used Tim Holtz). Then attach to the tag with hot glue, and glue on the red pom pom and googly eyes. Cut a brown or black pipe cleaner in half and twist each into a spiral – attach for antlers. Thread a ribbon through the tag and cut to desired length.
Hope you have fun making some tags of your own!
Countdown to Christmas – Day 4 – Sugar-Free Candy!
Today I am sharing a project that can be used indoors or out. I started with 2 – 12″ round wooden plaques and attached them each to a long stick. Paint with white craft paint.
Using my silhouette I cut out a stencil from a thin piece of cardboard (the likeness of a cereal box thickness) and placed it on the painted circle.
Cellophane wrap and add bows, and there you have some sugar-free Christmas Candy!
Happy Crafting!

Countdown to Christmas – Day Three – A Christmas Planner
Hello everyone. It’s my turn to share a project, and today I’m sharing a way to stay organized for the busy season ahead.
For the last few Christmases I have always felt that I’ve been trying to play catch-up and constantly trying to remember what I need to do. This year, I decided to make myself a simple planner – separate from my regular planner, to help keep me organized. I spent a lot of time online, looking for something that I could just print out. There are a lot of free printables out there! Some of them were really great, too! However, I kept coming back to THIS ONE that I found on Etsy. I purchased it, and printed off what I needed. Then I quickly assembled it into something that I can drag around with me for the next month-and-a-half.
I made my own cover but grabbing some older Chrismtas paper from my stash, and added some older embellishments from my stash as well. The idea was to keep this simple and quick. It’s going to be manhandled a lot so I didn’t want a lot of bulk, or weight.
To assemble it, I used my Arc punch (which is the same system as the MAMBI Happy Planner), and punched all the papers, including the covers, and added the rings. I will easily be able to add more pages, as needed, or even add in flyers, or other papers that I need to keep organized. All I will need to do is punch them and slip them in.
Here’s a look at some of the pages inside:
Thank you for checking out today’s project. If you have a project you’d like to share, we’d love to see it. Share it on our social media pages, or in our forum.
Countdown to Christmas – Day two – A 1 Hr. Holiday Layout
Hello Nerds! Today, Nathalie is sharing a quick layout for day two of our countdown.
We are so excited to take part in this series! I am all about the season (both my kids are Christmas babies!), and finding ways to document all those small moments.
I know that during the holidays, time seems to speed up. We tend to forget about printing the picture, and documenting the moment (i am guilty of that). With that in mind, i created this 1 hr layout (it took this long because I had to hand-stitch on it).
I am using the entire Illustrated Faith’s “CHRISTmas” collection for this project -i picked this from the store a few weeks ago- I started by cutting 2 in. squares (12 in total for this 12×12 layout) from the patterned papers in the collection. I arranged them into 3 rows of 4 squares each horizontally. Once glued, i added handstitched diagonal lines (this step took most of the hour, but i took the page to my son’s soccer practice, and stitched the lines while we waited for him), but you can chose to just leave the grid simple, or add some machine stitching.
I have lots of pictures of my kids when little (i had very little crafting time back then, but always made sure to document little notes when i downloaded the pictures to my computer). So i pulled this picture of my daughter after she built her first gingerbread house. I simply layered papers from the collection, and buid clusters from the collection add-ons around it.
After that i added my title using some rub-on letters from my stash, my journal lines, and a few ink splatters.
I really hope this serves as inspiration on how to document a memory in a short amount of time. Let me know if you have any questions about how this came together, and if you use this as inspiration for one of your projects, link it up to this thread – we would love to see it!-
See you all very soon!!
Sunday card share #59
Today is kind of a special day here on the SN blog, we’re starting a new series this month called Countdown to Christmas. This in an annual feature here and the Nerd Girls will be sharing their holiday inspired projects until November 30th, so check back often.
It’s no secret that we love foiling products from Deco Foil here at Scrapbook Nerd and this holiday season Prima Marketing has released some amazing adhesive rub-ons that are made for foiling. (You can see a list of my supplies at the bottom of this post)
I think these rub-ons make it easy for anyone to get great results and you don’t need any machines to help you. After transferring the rub-on to your project, cover the image with your selected foil (good side up), then you rub/burnish the foil with your fingers to make it stick to the rub-on. It’s really that easy!
The word hope was added on top of the gold foil using the rub-on word set. Layering different colours of foil is a fun way to add some detail to your project.
It’s difficult to photograph the foil to really show how amazing it looks when you are finished.Another fun thing you can do is to use the remaining NEGATIVE image to create another project. I made sure that the gold foil from my first card was neatly cut before starting so I would be able to make this second card.
I used an adhesive sheet, rubbed the negative image on, then removed top clear plastic film from the gold foil to expose the adhesive and then added the black foil to that adhesive area.
After burnishing the black foil I removed the clear plastic film for the big reveal.
Two projects from one rub-on.
I could have continued and used the next negative image to create a third card if I wanted to but I decided to stop there.
I hope you enjoy this holiday series and find some inspiration for your own holiday projects this year. 🙂 If you have any questions let me know in your comments.
Happy crafting!
