Scrapbook Nerd Girl Digest | Weekly Review

Hi there!

Even after the Christmas festivities, the Nerdy Girls have been working on sharing a few projects to give you a bit of inspiration.   Let’s just see what they have been up to:

Mari shared a set of of beautiful Christmas cards.  She has used Crate Paper’s FALALA collection to create two simple but elegant designs.   In addition, she also added the cute puppy card, created using MFT Happy Pawlidays stamp set and die.  She used a bit of Distress Inks to frame the puppy image.   So in love with her cards!

Gisele put her personal stamp on the two cards she shared this week with us.   She also played with Crate Paper’s FALALA collection, and some Nuvo drops to create these colorful and beautiful cards.

Finally, Nathalie’s Tuesday Tutorial was focused on showing us how a bit of mixed media can help us use those busy patterned papers as a base for our projects.  She combined Photoplay’s Winter Meadow with Crate Paper’s Snow and Cocoa collections to  create this page.  You can see her video tutorial in the previous blog post.

Well that is all for this week.  We hope these serve as inspiration/starting points for projects of your own.  Remember to check the Scrapbook Nerd for all the materials used in the projects.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support during the past year, and to wish you only the best for the New Year.

SCRAPBOOK NERD CREATIVE TEAM PROJECTS OF THE WEEK

Hello scrappy nerds, Gisele here to show you our design team scrappy projects. We have some wonderful creations for you again this week.

Starting off with my Traveler’s Notebook take instead of a December Daily using Crate Paper FALALA collection.

Next up is Mari Clarke with her layout that include products from Turn the Page as well as Distress Oxide Ink in Abandoned Coral, Cracked Pistachio and Fossilized Amber. She has also sprinkled some Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine on the background. This layout includes products from a favorite creator, Paige Taylor Evans. This collection from Pink Paislee is gorgeous!!

Milena Woodiwiss is up with this fabulous card. Who would’t want to received this on their birthday?

There are so many of her favourites represented in this card. She used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks for all the backgrounds. She loves these inks! They blend together so beautifully and when you spray a bit of water on them and the result is so lovely. The sprinkle background and cupcake is done using the Concord & 9th Sprinkles Turnabout Stamp. And sprinkles. She loves sprinkles on almost anything!!

Nathalie DeSousa has stunned us with this flutter of butterflies. How amazing are they??

She loves paper, so chosing a favorite was hard. But she was  totally in love with the Paige Evans Turn the Page collection. So she used a bit of mixed media, and fussy cut all the butterflies from the 12×12 paper pad to create this page about her daughter (she is not a baby anymore ;( )
She loved all the quotes included in the embellishments in the collection

I also had fun with this next layout using some Simple Stories. So much so that I have almost nothing left of this collection happy Harvest.

This one is entitled Hello Fall using the Simple Stories happy Harvest and Nuvo Drops Ripened Pumpkin, Nuvo Drops Caribbean Ocean, Nuvo Drops Emerald City. Flair from my stash and using a pumpkin punch by EK Success.

I hope you have enjoyed the design team’s projects this week and hope it gives you inspiration. We certainly had fun playing with paper. We just can’t help it 🙂

December Daily…Traveler’s Notebook?????

Hey scrappy nerds, Gisele here with a tutorial on a Traveler’s Notebook. Now you may be wondering why I have December Daily in my title. Let me just say, December is always a very busy month and keeping up with a December Daily is sometimes challenging to find time to document. You might feel guilty that you started one and feel overwhelmed that you are falling behind.  Scrapbooking is supposed to be fun right, this might be a way to document December in a faster and easier way. It might be what a newbie would feel more comfortable with or for a seasoned scrapbooker.

For this Traveler’s notebook, I am using the Crate paper FALALA collection that we have in the store

Yes adding pages or inserts could be a challenge, but I added a pocket to one of my pages and put a journaling tag.

Opening the inside of the Traveler’s Notebook, I look at it as a square page and looked at it as a layout.

Using the papers, and embellishments from the FALALA line was fun. I wanted to add a little glitter so that lovely FALALA was the embellishment for me.

Also, I took out a mini punch and added a tree banner with some floss from my stash.  Used the hole reinforcers from a SNAP planner from Simple Stories to the tag.

It was all about getting the right tree for the theme of these pages.

I clustered the enamel shaped stickers together in a grouping

To add layers to the right page I cut the tree ephemera in half in slipped it behind other layers of the photo and papers.

To get some journaling in, I created a tag that I inserted in a glacene pocket. You could create your own with some parchment paper, or create a pocket with some of the papers in the collection. I used a circle punch to create a detail in that pocket. To attach the floss to the tag, I staple it with Tim Holtz Tiny attacher to add some more texture. Also, the floss in tag repeats from the banner as well. JOY is an ephemera piece and was ideal for the page.

Adding some enamel stars from the collection and that gorgeous enamel car sticker at the bottom repeats the colours and makes it more cohesive. The bird upper right of the left page also goes well with all the other enamel shape stickers. I repeated the gold on the right page by placing slipping in a gold star on the partial tree.

And voila, that’s my example of a Traveler’s Notebook for you. A few more layers behind the photo and some journaling word stickers…

I had a lot of fun creating this for you. I hope you like it and it brings you joy and maybe an alternative to a December Daily. Don’t forget to check the Scrapbook Nerd store for this and all scrappy needs and wants.
